Joining an athletics club is a big step in your running career and you probably have lots of questions. We hope to answer them with an all-singing, all-dancing welcome to the Senior Road Runners' section of the club and to the Junior Track & Field section.
If you need further information or advice about membership, please contact the following and they will be delighted to help.
Initially, you don't have to be a member of MAC and may attend any of the club training sessions and simply pay the appropriate training fees. We normally allow a period of approximately two weeks to give you time to decide whether or not MAC is for you. After this, if you decide to continue training with the club, you will be required to apply for membership.
Before applying for membership you should have investigated the benefits, privileges and obligations of joining MAC. The club insists on a certain standard of discipline from its members and in applying for membership you are committing to comply with this. MAC has the right to expel members whose conduct is unacceptable.
Please acquaint yourself with the various documents displayed on the club notice boards and which are accessible below before applying for membership.
The membership year is 1st January to 31st December. Existing memberships will be deemed lapsed if not renewed by 1st March. New members joining from October onwards are covered for membership of the following year.

Second claim members are welcome to train with MAC and take part in club social events. However, only first claim members qualify for points/places in internal club competitions or may compete in open competitions on behalf of MAC (unless by prior agreement of the management of both clubs and the event organisers). First claim members will always have priority in team selection.
Family Membership
A 25% discount is applied to the cost of each family member where there is a minimum of three first claim members and this must include at least one senior.
Voting Rights
At the Annual General Meeting (and other MAC meetings), only fully paid-up first claim members of 15 years and older are eligible to vote.

What do I get for my membership?
New first-claim members receive a Motherwell AC vest. Everyone gets access to training sessions and club social events as well as sparkling wit and repartee from coaches and fellow members. Senior members can join training runs in scenic parts of Lanarkshire and occasionally beyond.
MAC competes in various events in different parts of Scotland, some of which involve subsidised travel. There are also discounts available in many specialist running shops on production of a MAC membership card. Members are entitled to discounted membership of the Boat House Gym in Strathclyde Park.
