Meritorious Performance Quaich
This athlete has gone from strength to strength, having had another great year of running performances including first place at Cumbernauld 10k and 2nd at Kilmacolm Β½ Marathon. In addition to this, this athlete ran themself into a championship place for London Marathon. In February 2006, Stuart Gibson ran the 4-mile time trial event in 20min 22 secs. That record remained unbroken for 17yrs until Tuesday 4th July this year, when this athlete broke the record running the summer course in 20min 11secs. This is a performance that deserves merit and it is for this reason Jonathan Moore has been awarded the meritorious performance quaich.
Most-Improved Athlete
This individual joined the club during the Spring of 2022. Throughout this year, they made significant progress taking over 90 secs off their 4-mile TT time, setting numerous PBs and recently took first place at the Queen’s Park 5k event. The senior endurance coaches feel this athlete has steadily improved, has more to come and award the most improved trophy to Gayle Forbes.
Yvonne Murray MBE Award
This award is presented to the athlete who through the year regularly demonstrates a commitment and effort at training that inspires and motivates other club members. .
This award was created in 2012 as a tribute to Yvonne who is a lifetime honorary member of the club. The person awarded this year is and always has been a great inspiration to others, has a commitment like no other and is one of the best motivators youβll ever meet. This award has always been awarded to a Track and Field athlete, until now. This year, with great honour, we award it to the legendary John Hughes!!
Massive congratulations to all our prize winners!!! And to all of our athletes. Their hard work, dedication and love of our sport is admirable!!! Well done everyone!!!!
We also presented all our coaches with a gift voucher for volunteering their time helping our members. Thank you coaches!!!
