National Age Group Championships – Grangemouth 2016

The U13s experienced some horrible wet and windy conditions on Saturday. Despite this, both Jenna Booth and Stuart Russell performed very well. Jenna qualified for the 100m semi finals with a time of 14.56, coming second in her heat. In the semis she ran a solid 14.96 into a strong wind, culminating in a very close finish over the line between her and three other athletes. Stuart faced driving wind and rain for his timed 800m final but ran with commitment in 2.31.96. He placed an excellent eighth overall out of a field of 43 runners.

On Sunday, U15 Iona Orr got to the final last three jumps in the Triple Jump with a first jump PB of 9.39m. Her last jump was another great PB of 9.49m to secure 6th place overall. Dylan Drummond secured a fantastic new PB time of 2.18.27 in the U15B 800m –¬† over seven seconds faster than his previous PB! Kirsty Irwin also ran in the U20W 800m race in a time of 2.40.35.

The weekend was a great experience for our athletes who enjoyed the buzz and atmosphere a national competition brings. Many thanks to our supporters and coaches as well as the SA officials, without whom these events couldn’t take place.
