Christmas Time Trial – Full Details
When: Sunday 9 December, 10:30 am for an 11.00 am start.
Where: Meeting at Strathclyde Park Boathouse Gym.
Who: Everybody is welcome to come along and compete, or come along to cheer on your fellow athletes if you are unable to run. The emphasis is on fun and feel free to wear seasonal attire such as a Santa costume or Christmas top etc.
Course: The summer 4 mile route around the loch (usually run in reverse).
Winners and Wooden Spoon: We will have a female winner, a male winner and a wooden spoon based on the current Time Trial rules (you must be a member and have completed two markers). Finishing times will be published but will not count towards the best of your last three runs or for markers.
New Trophy: The Donald McCaffer Memorial Quaich. In memory of popular and long term club member Donald McCaffer, his wife May has donated a quaich to be awarded at the annual Christmas Time Trial. The coaches have decided that the first runner to cross the finishing line (you must be a member, ran in the last year and be on the handicap list) will be awarded this trophy. May will be coming along to present the trophy.
Afterwards: We meet in the Electric Bar around 12.30 pm where we will have a roll and a tea/coffee before we do the presentations.
Toy Donations – the committee have decided that rather than doing a Secret Santa at the Christmas Handicap this year, we are asking for donations of a toy gift to help underprivileged kids in our area who wake up with little or nothing on Christmas day, please do not wrap your present.
Road Runner of the Year: We vote for the Road Runner of the Year in the Electric Bar. However, if you cannot make along you can send your vote to Joe Hoolaghan (joehoolaghan@motherwellac.com, or send him a private facebook message). There is no set criteria for the road Runner of the Year. It is not a prize for our best athlete as we already have numerous prizes for our top performers. It may be the person who shows real commitment to the club, who makes you feel welcome, who shows a positive attitude to training, who represents the club while racing at every possible opportunity, etc, etc.
