Due to the Inter Region Triathlon Championships being held at Strathclyde Park on 3 & 4 September the Parkrun has been cancelled that weekend.
The RRs Sub-Committee considered changing the date of our race, but voted narrowly in favour of a change of venue. We considered Livingston, Linwood, Pollock and Silverknowes.
Again by a slim majority, Linwood was the new venue approved by the sub-committee. Linwood is apparently a flat fast two lap course and the event takes place at ON-X Linwood, Brediland Road, Linwood, PA3 3RA at the usual time of 9.30 AM.Sorry if this causes you any inconvenience.
Joe Hoolaghan, on behalf of the RRs Sub-Committee.
A 33 seater bus (same as last year) has been organised for the Brian Goodwin 10K.
It leaves from the Electric Bar at 6.00 PM on Friday 17th June, which will get us to The Cartha Queen’s Park Rugby Club in plenty of time for the 7.30 PM start. The bus will be returning to the Electric Bar at 10.00 PM. The Boathouse Car Park closes before our return from the race so please do not park there if you are leaving your car.
If you wish to book a seat(s) on the bus please reply to the post on Facebook or text Jim White (who has kindly agreed to sort out the numbers this year) on 07725262878.
Seats will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
The Snowball Race (Championship Race), organised by Scottish Veteran Harriers Club, takes place on Wednesday 4 May and starts at 7.30 PM.
Registration takes place at the Coatbridge Outdoor Centre (Coatbridge Track) on the night. Pre-registration is not required. The race starts approximately 1 mile away at the entrance to Drumpellier Park so please allow time for registration and getting to the start line.
That is all of the detail available at the moment – if there is any more info we will keep you posted.
The proposed road runners leagues for 2016 have been decided.
You can see the proposed leagues here.
Runners must be a member from 1st March 2016 to be eligible to be included in the leagues, and should this be missed, runners shall not be included later.
Therefore it is important that you renew your membership!
However runners who join later than 1st March are included in the Road Runners Championship, Time Trial Championship and Cross Country Championship for the races following their joining.
See also the 2016 Road Runners Championship and Leagues page.
The Road Runners sub group held their first meeting yesterday (Saturday 14th November), minutes to follow.
Although the full list of races for the 2016 league and champs has to be completed, the first race in the series will be the Down by the River Cambuslang 10k and entries are now open.
The rest of the races will be announced after the January meeting, however it was felt it was right to announce this in order that as many people as want to take part can in case the race sells out.
