Rothesay Bus Arrangements

The next social event on the club’s calendar is Rothesay, on Saturday 19 August.

As in previous years, the club are paying for the bus, however, unlike previous years, a £10 (£5 kids) refundable deposit will be required to be paid before names are confirmed.

Deposits will be returned on the day.  We have introduced this policy to try to prevent a number of cancellations in the last few days leading up to the trip.

Deposits and names can be given to Elaine on any club night.

Pick up times and locations will be confirmed next week but are likely to be Wishaw Sports Centre, approx 8.15 am and Boathouse Strathclyde Park approx 8.30 am.  This event is for club members, friends and family.

Bute Highland Games 2016

The club is running a bus to the Bute Highland Games for a club day out on Saturday 20th August.  There is the 10K Road Race (not part of the championship) for those who want to compete and there are various other track races available for all age groups.

The bus is open to members, family and friends.  The bus will be free, although a small deposit may be required to secure a seat, this is due to the large number of late call offs in recent years.  Folk will pay for the ferry from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay themselves.

What we need at this stage is a note of the numbers who will be requiring the bus.  Elaine Jamieson has once again kindly offered to organise the bus.  If you would like a seat(s) please reply to the post on Facebook, speak to Elaine directly, or text her on 07951 960 469. Please spread the word.

More details about pick up points, times, and the return journey will be published a bit nearer the time.

Bus to Bute Highland Games (Saturday 22nd August)

The bus going to Rothesay on Saturday will pick up at Wishaw Sports Centre car park at 8.00 am and the Boathouse, Strathclyde Park at 8.20 am.  This should get us to Wemyss Bay for the 10.15 am ferry.

Returning on Saturday evening, the bus will leave Wemyss Bay at approx 7.40 pm (or shortly after the arrival of the 7.00 pm ferry).  Ferries fill up quickly, so if you intend holding off for the 7.00 ferry, please make sure you are in the queue in plenty of time.

Bus to Bute Highland Games (Now Full)!

The bus to the Bute Highland Games on Saturday 22 August is now full and we have a waiting list so it’s even more important that if you are calling off, or your numbers go down, you let Elaine know as soon as possible.

The only changes to the list of names that was published last week are:

  • Mark Gallagher – no longer going, but in his place is Gary Wood
  • Ross McLean x1

Bute Highland Games – Saturday 22 August (Club Day Out)

This year’s Bute Highland Games (warning: website has a very loud sountrack) has been designated as a club day out once again.

The club will be running a free bus(es) from Wishaw/Motherwell to Wemyss Bay return.  You pay the ferry and yourself into the games.  As usual, family and friends are welcome and the bus is free for everyone going to the games.

The day typically starts with the MAC putting competition before we head for the games.  There is a 10K Road Race which is very popular with the Road Runners, however, this is not a championship race so there is no pressure.  Should you wish to enter, please fill in and return this form.

There are a whole host of Highland Games events and racing for younger age groups if they attend.

If you would like to go the Club Day Out, just reply to the post on Facebook or the message board with the number of seats you need on the bus.

Alternatively, let Elaine Jamieson know in person or by text (07951 960 469).
