The Club are once again planning a training weekend in Aviemore.
At the moment we are trying to gauge interest for numbers so that we can get prices and firm up on plans.
For those who haven’t been on one of these training weekends before, we head up to Aviemore on Friday, checking in by 2pm.
You make your own way there or arrange to car share.
There is usually a run organised at 3pm before heading back to get changed for dinner.
You then have Friday evening to do your own thing.
Saturday morning is an interval session after your breakfast has been digested, followed by a short Pilates class after lunch.
You then have a few hours to yourself in the afternoon before dinner and a fun quiz on Saturday evening.
Sunday morning starts with breakfast followed by a run or walk depending on your preference.
Lunch is also provided on Sunday before heading home.
Accommodation is shared and full board.
We will also try to organise one or two talks over the weekend relating to running/training.
This weekend is open to both T&F and SE athletes. Previous weekends have taken place in September and this is the plan again this year depending on availability at Glenmore.
If this is something you are interested in, or would like further information on, please comment below or speak to Elaine Jamieson or Mae McIsaac.
This year’s ceilidh takes place on Saturday 23 February 2019 in St Brides Hall, Motherwell.
This is open to all T&F and SE athletes, friends and family.
Ticket prices are £10 for adults and £5 for kids 16 and under. A discounted price of £25 for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids). Price includes hot food, haggis, neeps and tatties or pizza.
For anyone who has been before you’ll know that it’s a fantastic band who explain and walk you through the less known dances and they get everyone involved. There will be a raffle and other games on the night.
As always, we would appreciate any donations for raffle prizes. For tickets speak to Elaine Jamieson (SE) or Lesley Ross (T&F).
The next social event on the club’s calendar is Rothesay, on Saturday 19 August.
As in previous years, the club are paying for the bus, however, unlike previous years, a £10 (£5 kids) refundable deposit will be required to be paid before names are confirmed.
Deposits will be returned on the day. We have introduced this policy to try to prevent a number of cancellations in the last few days leading up to the trip.
Deposits and names can be given to Elaine on any club night.
Pick up times and locations will be confirmed next week but are likely to be Wishaw Sports Centre, approx 8.15 am and Boathouse Strathclyde Park approx 8.30 am. This event is for club members, friends and family.
There is still a fair bit of time until the deadline for the final payment of £70 per person on 1 July, however, Tracey Lamont is happy to take any partial or full payments between now and the deadline if anybody wants make an early payment.
Tracey can be contacted at training most Tuesday’s or you can contact her on 07854730347 to make arrangements.
If anybody has special dietary requirements can you please email Joe Hoolaghan on email@example.com or send him a private facebook message and he will ensure that Glenmore Lodge gets the information well in advance of the weekend.

A huge thanks to club members, friends and family who came along to support last night’s ceilidh and to everyone who donated raffle prizes and bought tickets. Andy Kane and his Band did a great job once again and going by the dancers on the floor I’m sure there are a lot of sore feet today.
A big thank you too, to the caters, Fine Choice for the excellent food.
Next year’s date will be announced in the next few weeks but until then, a selection of pictures from the night are below.
A small number of tickets are still available for anyone who is thinking of going to the Ceilidh which is being held this Saturday in St Bride’s Hall, Motherwell from 7.30 pm. Contact Elaine on 07951 960469 for tickets. Anyone who has still to pay for tickets should pay their money to Elaine on either Tuesday or Thursday night at training.
Elaine will also be selling raffle tickets at training this week, so anyone who is not able to make it to the Ceilidh, remember to bring more than your £1!! Tickets are £1 per strip or 6 strips for £5.
A big thank you to those of you who have already donated to the raffle, but we are still in need of raffle prizes for the night, so if you have anything to donate, please get it to Elaine or Tracey before Saturday.

t’s been a few years since we had our last MAC BBQ, so now that we have all this good weather, it has put us in the mood to rectify that. The 2016 MAC BBQ will take place on Sunday 3 July at Flower Fairies Garden Centre, Rosebank (next to The Popinjay Hotel) from 1.00 pm. Club member Andrew Scott, has very kindly offered his premises, which means even if it isn’t quite the BBQ weather we’re all hoping for, it can still go ahead!!!
The club will provide disposable BBQs, all you need to bring is your own food, drink and seating. This is a club BBQ, so is open to Track & Field and Endurance Runners, family and friends. The Hughes Family have very kindly, once again, offered to arrange the ‘Traditional Games’ on the day!! Have dry clothing at the ready!!
Previous BBQs have been well attended and enjoyed by everyone who’s been there, so we hope this one won’t be any different.
We look forward to seeing you all there, but in the meantime, if you have any questions, please speak to Elaine Jamieson.
