Due to unforeseen circumstances, Motherwell Athletics Club have an immediate vacancy for the position of a permanent Club Welfare Officer.

This role is of priority importance to Motherwell Athletics Club as we strive to ensure our club members are safe at all times at club nights and events.  We require ideally two people who are willing to be trained for the role and who are able to be around training sessions on a regular basis.

The Welfare Officer does not need to be at every Monday and Wednesday session but regular attendance at track and field training is required.  You would be acting as the point of contact for any welfare related matter and will be supported by the Club Committee led by the Chair.

Two three hour training courses are required and a PVG check will also be carried out.  No previous experience is necessary and the role itself is not overly demanding.  You will act as a point of contact, report any matters which may arise, and ensure that PVG/Disclosure checks are carried out for all coaches and relevant volunteers.

You will likely have seen the media reports of sports failing in their duties to appropriately check those working with children and vulnerable groups.  However Athletics in Scotland operates to a high standard and Motherwell Athletics Club remain absolutely committed to safeguarding all of our members.

Full support and training will be provided and we would now ask that you consider stepping up to support the club. We cannot ask our coaches to assume this role along with existing commitments so please help us to ensure the club remains a safe and supportive environment for all our members.

In the interim club chairman, Ewen Cameron, shall fulfill these duties.  Scottish Athletics have been informed of this arrangement.

To discuss this role further, please contact Club Chair, Ewen Cameron on 07979 149782 or ewencameron@motherwellac.com
